  • Mr Randal Eplin

    Head of School USA

    Mr Eplin is an American who has lived overseas for fifteen years with his family. He is married to his lovely wife Lori and they have five children; their youngest son is with them here at BISS. As the Head of School he enjoys working with everyone in the BISS community. He has two undergraduate degrees, a masters degree and is currently working on a doctorate at the University of Liverpool. He is a black belt instructor in Tae Kwon Do with the United States Chung Do Kwon Association.

  • Ms Jennifer Le Varge

    Elementary School Principal - IB PYP Coordinator USA

    Ms Le Varge is originally from the State of Connecticut in the United States. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (with honors) from Boston University’s School of Education in 2005. Jennifer has lived in several countries, as both a student and as a teacher, including: Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon.

    She has a Master of Arts degree (with high honors) in Cultural Anthropology from the American University of Beirut. Ms Le Varge is a member of the IB Educators’ Network as a Workshop Leader and School Visit Team Member. She is also co-Chair of the North China PYP Coordinators’ Network. She is a passionate supporter of inquiry, the learning environment, and Reggio-inspired pedagogy.

  • Mr Antony Geralis

    Secondary School Principal - IB DP Coordinator Greece

    Mr Antony Geralis holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Greek Language and Literature from the University of Athens, a Postgraduate Certificate of Professional Study from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Arts in Education Management from King’s College London and a Master of Arts in Leadership from the Institute of Education, University of London.

    He has been working as a teacher, learner, and qualified examiner for more than 22 years. He has attended and presented in many workshops and conferences and he is very much interested in keeping up to date with current trends and issues related to education. Mr. Geralis is a certified IB workshop leader, as well as an IB, WASC, CIS accreditation visiting team member.

    Antony's hobbies are traveling, volunteering, meeting and socializing with people and cultures, listening to music, going to the opera, cooking and gardening.

  • Mr Dawid Bochen

    Secondary School Assistant Principal - IB MYP Coordinator; Interdisciplinary Learning Coordinator; Music; ATL/ Personal Project Coordinator Poland

    Mr Dawid Bochen comes from Poland. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy (graduated with honors) from the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wroclaw, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Pedagogy, with Specialization in Child Care and School Counseling from the University of Wroclaw. Dawid performed a variety of functions throughout his professional career. He has been working as an IB Middle Years Programme Coordinator, music instructor and school counselor, and before that as a music therapist and university lecturer. Dawid is also a certified IB workshop leader. He considers himself to be a lifelong learner, driven by the old Chinese proverb: “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand”, which in his opinion is reflected in the inquiry based approach promoted by all IB programmes. Dawid lives in Beijing with his wife and two children. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, experiencing different cultures, being involved in sports, and further developing his passion for music.

  • Ms Maureen VanderKlippe

    Counsellor & Student Support Services Supervisor Canada

    Born in Vancouver, Canada, Ms Maureen VanderKlippe obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History (1999), Bachelor of Education with a specialization in English as an Additional Language (2002), Diploma in Guidance Studies (2006) and Masters in Counselling Psychology (2008), all from the University of British Columbia. She has worked all over western Canada, beginning her career in Canada’s sub-artic, where she taught French as a Second Language in the Northwest Territories. She taught elementary students in several schools in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland. In Calgary, Alberta, she worked in a public high school and a private elementary school as a counsellor. She also spent several months teaching reception (kindergarten) students at another international school in Beijing prior to joining BISS. Maureen lives in China with her husband and twin boys.

  • Mr Dave Wilkinson

    Library Media Specialist & E-Learning Coordinator USA

    This school year will mark Mr. Wilkinson’s tenth year of living and teaching overseas, he has lived and worked in Peru, Kazakhstan, Venezuela and China. Dave Wilkinson has recently earned his Masters of Education Technology from Boise State University and is looking forward to using the skills and knowledge from this program to the programs at BISS.

    As a life long learner, he is currently learning to play the guitar and is always looking for new recipes to try out or improve in the kitchen. When not at school Dave enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and English bulldog.

  • Mr Jeffrey Young

    Athletic Director; Physical & Health Education USA

    Mr. Young, has been a resident in Beijing since the summer of 2016. He came to Beijing to educate Chinese Physical Education in the World’s game, football. A native of New Jersey, he has lived in Europe for the past 11 years, in addition to a three year stint in Los Angeles, California.

    Mr. Young developed his interest in Physical and Health Education stems from his studies in the Netherlands where he earned his degree in Sport Science and Kinesiology. Mr Young has a Masters in Sport Management, which provides him with knowledge and experience to lead out ASA and athletic programs at BISS.
