Miss McBride is originally from the State of California in the United States. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education and a minor in Ethnic Studies from Oregon State University in 2003. Kelly received her Masters in the Art of Teaching from Pacific University in 2004 before relocating to the State of Arizona to begin her teaching career.
With a passion for teaching English as a Second Language students, she moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2011. Kelly has traveled to over thirty countries, and enjoys bringing a diverse world perspective to the classroom. She enjoys cooking, traveling, cultural festivals, and getting lost in a good book.
Ms Summer LiChinese Studies Teacher China
Ms. Summer Li strives to lead her students towards happy learning through fun activities. She joined BISS in 2006.
Ms. Summer Li is originally from Heihe area where Sino-Russian boarder in Heilongjiang province. She came to Beijing for study where she obtained her Diploma in English. She obtained theories of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Beijing Language and Culture University. She obtained her Bachelor of Art degree in Elementary Education from Beijing Normal University. Summer loves singing, dancing and traveling.
Ms. Erin ParnellKindergarten Teacher Canada
Erin Parnall was born and raised in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada. The only child of adventurous parents, who believed learning was experiencing real events, Erin grew up believing China was behind the living room sofa and the nearest adventure was to be reached via her tricycle.
Erin has spent the last 16 years as a global nomad, living and working abroad with international children and families. Trained in Canada, she has had experience as a teacher in China, Vietnam, Brunei, Turkey and Laos. Erin has extensive experience with a variety of school systems, accrediting agencies, and the Primary International Baccalaureate. Believing each day brings new adventures and the importance of experiencing each moment, Erin is excited to be joining the BISS family this academic year.
Mr Jeffrey YoungAthletic Director; Physical & Health Education USA
Mr. Young, has been a resident in Beijing since the summer of 2016. He came to Beijing to educate Chinese Physical Education in the World’s game, football. A native of New Jersey, he has lived in Europe for the past 11 years, in addition to a three year stint in Los Angeles, California.
Mr. Young developed his interest in Physical and Health Education stems from his studies in the Netherlands where he earned his degree in Sport Science and Kinesiology. Mr Young has a Masters in Sport Management, which provides him with knowledge and experience to lead out ASA and athletic programs at BISS.

Ms Catherine StaffordESOL Teacher USA
Ms Catherine Stafford was born in the beautiful mountains and lake city of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and a Master of Science in Library Science from Clarion University in Pennsylvania. She has been teaching English in Beijing for four years, working with students ages 3 – 14 at two different schools. Her previous position was held at a large Chinese boarding school where she taught grades 3—5 Higher Level English, grades 5-6 General English and grades 1 and 6 Science.
After a life-changing trip to Nigeria, Africa in 1999, Catherine saw the need for literacy and education in a new light, which led her to pursue a career in teaching. She has since traveled back to Nigeria, as well as Cameroon, to visit orphanages. In the USA, she volunteered at the Blue Ridge Literacy Council to help the adult Hispanic community learn practical English skills. Additionally, she has introduced the Scholastic Book Club to her students in China.
Ms Catherine loves to travel and has visited Canada, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Germany, England, Switzerland, France and Italy, as well as various parts of the United States and China. She enjoys cycling, hiking, dancing, singing and writing memoirs. She also plays percussion and has a collection of drums from various countries.

Mr William TranPre-K Teacher USA
Mr. William Tran is originally from West Texas in the United States and began teaching in Thailand in 2010. Mr. Tran has been teaching in China since July of 2011 and has experience in both preschools and primary schools. He has certificates in teaching English as a Foreign Language (to children) and Multiple Intelligences in Early Childhood Education.
Mr. Tran is particularly fond of teaching in the early years and seeing the growth and developmental of young learners. He is excited to be joining the BISS family and working with the BISS team this year.
Ms. Chunli NiuChinese Studies Teacher China
Ms. Niu Chunli graduated with a Bachelor’s degree of Chinese Language and Literature. She has been an international school teacher of Chinese language for the past 10 years. Her first international job was at Singapore International School, where she taught Elementary School grades Kindergarten to Grade 5 for four years. She loved working with this age group, and enjoyed empowering them to learn through inquiry by providing an inviting and exciting learning environment.
She also worked at Sinarmas World Academy for 6 years in Indonesia. She has experience with different age groups and different school curricula, including the Singapore National curriculum, the PYP and Cambridge curriculum.
She is so glad to have the opportunity to teach Chinese here at BISS.
