Mrs Julie Lindsay comes from Melbourne, Australia where she has worked in both the state and private educational systems. She holds a Masters degree in Music from La Trobe University, Melbourne and a Masters degree specializing in Educational Technology Leadership from George Washington University, USA. As an international educator Julie has taught in Zambia, Kuwait, Bangladesh and Qatar. She is the co-founder of the Flat Classroom Project and Conference and serves as an Ambassador for the International Society for Technology in Education. Julie is an enthusiastic, global-minded education leader and innovator for 21st century learning using a wide array of Web 2.0 tools and ubiquitous mobile technology. Mrs Yan Wang teaches Chinese in the Upper school (Y7 through Y12). She holds a bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from Beijing Normal University in China and a bachelor’s Degree in Education from Deakin University in Australia. She received a masters Degree in Education (Teaching language) from the Deakin University in Australia. She has joined BISS from Australia where she has been teaching Chinese for more than 10 years at private schools in Melbourne and at the Monash University.
Mrs Karen Shrimpton spent her childhood days in Colorado, USA but eventually moved to England with her family as a teenager. She graduated from College in Liverpool with a B.Ed. in Psychology and quickly moved into the field of Special Needs education. After many years working with learning challenged children in the UK, Philippines, Uganda and Bangladesh, she finished her Master’s in Counseling and has been working as a school counselor for the past three years here in Beijing. She is a mother of four and her daughter Jasmine and son Kenny are also student in BISS.
Mr. Alfredo Papaseit is from Catalonia, Spain. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science and a Bachelor’s degree in History by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Educational technology. His interests and abilities lie primarily in the area of technology, information literacy skills and languages. He has had the opportunity to teach students of different levels, nationalities and academic backgrounds in UK, Spain and the Philippines.
As a 21st century media and information specialist he believes that technology needs to influence schools towards being better. Part of his work at BISS will focus on helping students and core subject teachers utilize information sources and web 2.0 technologies in the classroom, to create a global and collaborative approach to learning.
Mr. Jarman graduated from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. He possesses a Bachelor of Education, with a concentration in English as a Second Language (ESL). Since 1997, Mr. Jarman has been teaching in schools in Canada and New Zealand. He has designed and run literacy programmes in Aboriginal communities and served as Head Teacher at an elementary school on Vancouver Island. He continues to work with the Council of International Schools (CIS) on accreditation teams that assess international schools around the world. Currently in his eigth year at BISS, Mr. Jarman teaches Grade 5 and is the school’s K-12 ESOL Coordinator.
